KNIVES WILL MARCH

1. Welcome! Would you please introduce yourself and what you do in the band? Being a duo, what is the division of labor for you?

Martyna: We're Knives Will March and we play beatdown HC with a bit of slam, which is a mutual element in our musical tastes. As a duo, we work separately and then combine. Usually I write lyrics and Maciek writes riffs, everything in between we do together, like drums, samples or vocal lines.

2. What’s the scene like in Poland?

Maciek: In my opinion it's really cool. Especially in Silesia, which is the region where I live (Martyna lives pretty far away in Warsaw). There are a lot of great bands here and the shows are usually packed. A lot of young people come to shows and make bands. That's amazing to see.

3. What was it like discovering hardcore, particularly in Poland, and how did you discover it? What bands were your gateway?

Maciek: To be honest I don't remember how I discovered HC, but it was long time ago. I got into it more after seeing Knocked Loose live in Cracow with Deafheaven and Headbussa. KL leans into the style of metalcore, but culture-wise it's the same thing here. What I saw at the gig was pure cathartic chaos and I loved it.

Martyna: I discovered the core scene because my friend dropped a drum playthrough of Thy Art Is Murder's “Reign Of Darkness” and it was a spiral. I got addicted like “wow there's something heavier that Pantera out there and it's amazing!” I think he's one of the most skilled drummers in Warsaw. Then it was easy to get into HC by Maciek.

4. When and how did Knives Will March form?

KWM officially formed as a no-named project in October 2025 from Martyna's need to refine and purge her musical artworks of 5 years, asking Maciek for a bit of help. On the first day, we had a demo of “Scorn” and KWM unexpectedly became better than we and everyone else thought it would be.

5. What would you say are the band’s primary influences?

Martyna: I discovered Sunami at that time but earlier I absolutely fell into PeelingFlesh. Maciek has really good high vocals, in my opinion it is similar to Bryan Garris and I really liked how Knocked Loose songs felt, earlier and current.

Maciek: The bands that Martyna mentioned are definitely some primary influences. For me personally in the writing process I'm really inspired by some more OG SBDM bands like Devourment (you'll probably hear it on yet-to-be released material).

6. Your first single “Scorn” came out in April. What can you tell us about it?

Martyna: We wrote it in a day of officially setting KWM so it was riffing late at night with a sense of doing something better than we ever did before. We were frustrated by our current musical situation and wanted to release it through this song. I wrote lyrics in a few days and we didn't make many corrections. It's epic because it's so easy.

7. Your second single, “W.F.O.D.” was released August 10th. What can you tell us about this one?

Maciek: This song is definitely very different. You can hear a lot more classic deathcore and brutal death influences in it and a lot more is happening structurally. What's funny is that the thing that took the most time were the samples. With the song, we were really happy from the start, I believe. Also there's a very cool feature by our friend Arek from Awakeness, which added a lot more dynamics to the track.

8. What does the band have coming up that we should be keeping an eye out for?

Martyna: Sometimes we leak upcoming events on Instagram stories OR Bandcamp so you can follow it. Right now, we are planning upcoming shows and collecting band members, which some of you will already recognize from the Polish scene.

9. If you only had five songs to express your musical identity to someone, what would they be?

Martyna: 1. Knocked Loose-“Deadringer” 2. Sunami-“Six” 3. PeelingFlesh-“Shoot To Kill” 4. Pantera-“Slaughtered” 5. Thy Art Is Murder-“Killing Season”

Maciek: 1. PeelingFlesh-“Matar a Palos” 2. Sunami-“Weak Die First” 3. Knocked Loose-“No Thanks” 4. Snuffed On Sight-“Time 2 Dip” 5. Guttural Slug-“Hacksaw Surgery”

10. Any shout-outs or last words for the readers?

The most obvious shout-outs from us are our friends who help us throughout the whole process: Pawet Olma—our producer/mixing and mastering engineer, Eliza Mardyto—she took pretty much every photo, shot every video, and edited it, and a lot more people that we really appreciate.

Also shout-out to some amazing locals bands/artists from Poland: Burning Sky, 0-full, Lwstndrds, Human Mulch, Czerń, Gash Faith, Larmo, Necrocranium, Smoła, Awakeness, and Six Steps Forward.
