MARC-ALAN PRINCE
1. I am pleased to welcome Marc-Alan Prince to All the Cores and More. Would you please introduce yourself to the readers and provide a brief overview of your musical resumé?
I’m a punk rock singer-songwriter who has toured the globe with nothing more than a guitar on my back. I've played in 47 of the 50 U.S. states and toured in more than 10 countries across Europe, building a reputation for heartfelt, high-energy performances. I’ve had the absolute honor of opening for bands like Off With Their Heads, Amigo The Devil, The Bronx, and Rise Against.
In 2025, I released a live split record on DCXPC Live with Red At Night from Berlin, Germany. The release sold out the same year.
And now I've just released my new record, RUNAWAY, on Travel Well Records.
2. When and how did you discover punk rock? Who was or were your gateway band(s)?
I got into punk rock through skate videos when I was just a young buck. The first bands that really cooked me were Rancid, NOFX, AFI, Guttermouth, The Casualties, New York Dolls, and Sham 69. As much as I love all of them, the band at the very top for me has always been The Ramones. They were, and still are, the pinnacle of punk rock in my eyes.
3. What US states have you not yet performed in?
North Dakota, West Virginia, Alaska.
4. Your road-dogging has taken you all across the US and as far afield as Europe and even Africa. What are some of the most memorable experiences you’ve had?
In 2025, I spent a month touring Europe with Red At Night, including an unforgettable week in Italy. Right before one of our shows in Riva del Garda, I had a moment that stopped me in my tracks. Standing there, about to play our third packed show in Italy, I couldn't help but think, “How did a kid from a small town in Texas end up here?”
It was one of those rare moments where everything felt real at once. All the miles traveled, the years of work, and the incredible opportunity to share our music with people on the other side of the world. I'll never forget that feeling. It was one of the most special moments of the tour.

6. Let’s talk about Runaway, which came out in May. What was the writing and recording process like?
In 2025, I had one song written and was performing it while touring Europe. While we were waiting for the show to start in Aprilia, Italy, Christina Gerken snapped a photo of me that immediately spoke to me. I already knew I wanted to release a new record the following year, but I hadn't figured out what it was going to be yet. The moment I saw that photo, everything clicked. I knew exactly what I wanted to write about.
When I got back stateside, I locked myself in my apartment and got to work. By the end of it, I had a demo I was genuinely proud of.
After that, I called my right-hand man, Max Cunningham, and told him I wanted to rent a house in Austin, build out a studio, and record the new record there. He paused and asked, "What are you going to call it?"
I answered with one word. RUNAWAY.
7. Can you walk us through the songs on the EP?
First and foremost, this album is a story-driven project. It’s more than just a collection of songs. It’s a story told through music, with each track adding another piece to the bigger picture.
Runaway is based on a true story about how I left my hometown for Austin, Texas. I didn’t know how to read the highway exit signs, and it drove my older brother absolutely crazy. But the song isn't really about getting lost. It's about finding yourself. "Runaway" is about having the courage to leave behind what's familiar, step into the unknown, and become the person you were always meant to be. That move to Austin became the beginning of a much bigger journey. Sometimes the wrong exit leads you exactly where you're supposed to be.
The Damned is the song I always wanted to write. It’s about chasing the dream in the worst possible way. In my early years, all I wanted to do was tour, push the envelope, and live as recklessly as I could. It was very much a 'live fast, die young' mentality. Then I got older and realized something, “doomed youth is romantic, doomed middle age, not so much."
The Devil and Me is probably the hardest song I've ever written. It's about growing up feeling like you've never truly been seen, and how that kind of loneliness can pull you into a dark place. It's about trying to outrun your demons while feeling trapped in a room with no way out. But as the song unfolds, there's a realization. The door was never locked. You had the key the whole time. Sometimes the hardest part isn't escaping, it's believing you have the power to free yourself.
Dying to Be Alive is a song dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ community. To everyone who has fought, and continues to fight, for the right to live authentically and with dignity. This song is for those standing up for human rights for all, including transgender people and transgender youth. Your courage, resilience, and hope inspire others every day. I see you. I love you. You matter. Keep fighting the good fight. You're not alone.
34🜲 is my escape song. It’s about finding your way through the chaos and making it through the mess. It’s about discovering that needing others isn’t a weakness. It's a source of strength. It’s a reminder that we aren’t meant to face everything alone, and that sometimes the courage to lean on others is what helps us find our way out.

8. What are some of your upcoming plans we should be keeping an eye out for?
I’ve just wrapped up two incredible legs of The Damned Tour in support of my new record, and the journey is far from over. More tour dates are coming this summer and fall, along with new music videos set to be released in the months ahead. I’m also excited to share that The Making of Runaway documentary is in the pipeline. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. There’s so much more to come!
9. Okay, last question: there’s a tour package being put together and you are going to be on it. What would be the other three current bands or artists you’d most want to tour with (dream as big as you want haha!)?
Dave Hause, Brian Fallon, Bruce Springsteen, and me on stage together doing an all-acoustic storyteller show. Just trading songs, sharing stories, and talking about the moments behind the music. That would be pretty tight.
