1. It’s always my pleasure to have the 207 represented here on All the Cores and More. Would you please introduce yourself and what you do in the band?

My name is Zane and I am the guitarist in bitethebullet.

2. How would you characterize your sound, and what bands would you say are bitethebullet’s primary influences?

My primary influences when writing the EP were xEIGHTY-SIXEDx, Her Demise My Rise, and Wecamewithbrokenteeth. I would say our sound is similar to the hardcore beatdown genre except with the deathcore influences that come into play, making every breakdown just a little bit more ignorant.

3. How and when did the band come together?

Funny story actually, I had an extra ticket to the sold out Haywire/Missing Link show at the Old Town Theatre and I would end up giving it to Galen (BTB vocalist) if he could give me a ride to the show itself. On the way to the venue, I showed him some of the songs I had been writing at the time, causing us to hang out and write together, later meeting Kelly (drummer) and Billy (bassist), forming bitethebullet.

4. Before we get into your Broken Beliefs EP, I was wondering if you’d talk a bit about the scene in Bangor and Maine more broadly—who the main players are, whose work we should be following, etc.

Great question. In my opinion, Last Embrace, Mortar, and Dying Mind have been popping off recently. Last Embrace having some of my favorite sets, Mortar bringing the violence and Dying Mind exploding out of the gates with their EP release show recently. 5. So Broken Beliefs, “five violence-inducing tracks,” has dropped. Walk us through it track-by-track.  

Starting the EP Broken Beliefs with a very important song, Track 1-“Ashamed.” Being a quick and heavy song with a sing along all about being yourself and not letting people get to you. Track 2-“Let Go.” Being the first fast song on the EP is a super fun playthrough and has more beatdown-adjacent parts. Track 3-“Drop Dead Left In Your Wake.” Another fast and heavy one, also my personal favorite of the bunch, this song is straight mosh music start to end, starting with a buildup into a crazy heavy breakdown. Track 4-“Eden.” This song is another one of the fast ones out of the bunch, and another heavy one for the end of the EP. Track 5-“Unrecognized.” This is one of the first songs I ever wrote and seeing the crowd feedback whenever we play it is insane! Pig piles, dancing, and breakdowns, what more could you ask for during a show?

6. What was the writing and recording process for the EP like?

I originally wrote the EP in October of 2025, being some of the first material I had ever written. I sat on it for a while until I met everyone in the now bitethebullet and then it kinda hit me that it was all happening. We starting recording in end of March/early April of 2026 beginning with “Ashamed” and spending every week from then until early July to do everyone’s part and make sure it was ready for release.

7. What’s on the docket for the band in terms of upcoming shows or other things we should be keeping an eye out for, and what are some goals you’d like to accomplish with the band?

We have a few crazy shows coming up soon! August 5th at Live at Madrid’s in Portland with End Your Life, Mortar, Scyth of Grim, and Tracheotomy! We are so grateful to have the opportunity to play this show.

Up next after that is Buried In Wells 5! Crazy good line up with locals LNTRNS and Buck50! We are so stoked to play and attend this one; it’s gonna be a blast.

And some accomplishments I’d like to make with the band would consist of writing and recording a [full-length] album and playing an out of state show—both things I’ve been wanting to do for awhile and now something that is possible, so keep your eyes peeled.

8. A promoter with unlimited funds and artist access is putting together a one-night-only show with you on the bill. You get to choose the other four artists you’ll be sharing the stage with. Who are you picking?

I would have to say Slamwich, Execution, Destory All! Humans, and finally Ennui Breathes Malice, all these bands would be truly insane to play a show with, or even just to attend!

9. You can only pick one: brutal, savage, hard, or heavy. Which one and why?

I’m gonna have to say brutal because I just love the slow chugging ignorant breakdowns it provides.
